We have sent over sixty consignments of everyday goods, which have been generously donated by both UK industry and community. Trucks packed to capacity with: Duvets, boots and shoes, clothing, bedding, nappies, ladies hygiene products, toiletries & hand-knitted items – which have been distributed to families in dire need (these good are not supplied by the agencies on the ground, who struggle with the unprecedented needs of the two million refugees and IDPs in the Kurdistan region).
As a member of a European collaboration of charities, we have a robust mechanism to reach those in desperate need, in a timely and efficient manner.
When we receive feedback and stories like this, written by one of the charity workers on the ground, in his own words; we want to share their thanks with YOU – as you have been instrumental to making it all happen.
Six children, four boys and two girls now have shoes, shampoo and clothing because Goods for Good, a humanitarian organization based in the UK stepped in to fill the gap in basic necessities for Summa Husun, a 28-year- old mother and almost certain widow from Sinjar, Iraq. She and her children are living in “Kabartu 1” a refugee camp in the city of Duhok in northern Iraq. Her family was captured by ISIS when Sinjar fell to them in August 2014. After 11 very difficult months in the hands of ISIS, Summa and her children were released in a prisoner exchange with Kurdish forces. Her husband was not as lucky. Summa was very thankful to receive this help, “I have to thank Goods for Good for their generous support, and I have to say that I’m extremely surprised and pleased that there are people in this world who think about my children. I no longer have anyone who can support us financially, Goods for Good has given us hope for surviving this nightmare.”
Goods for Good desperately need help from companies to make this all happen, please see our page on how you can get involved! www.goodsforgood.org.uk/get-involved/
